Thank you for using the WeTakePart mobile app. At We Take Part Ltd, we are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy and Terms of Use outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal data when you use our services.

Please read this carefully before using the service.

1. Important Medical Disclaimer

The App does NOT provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.

  • Information Only: The App provides general, easy-to-understand information about healthcare technologies and clinical trials. While all content is reviewed and curated by a medically qualified professional, it is for informational purposes only.

  • Consult Your Doctor: You must always speak to your own GP, specialist, or healthcare team about your personal medical situation and whether a particular technology or trial is suitable for you.

  • No Doctor-Patient Relationship: Using this App does not create a doctor-patient relationship between you and We Take Part Ltd or its founders. We are not responsible for decisions made based on information in the App.

2. Personal Information We Collect

To provide our service and improve the App, we collect specific types of data. Under UK GDPR, we process this data based on your Consent (for health data) and our Legitimate Interests (for analytics and app security).

A. Information You Give Us (Linked to Your Identity)

  • Identity Data: Name, Email Address and Year of Birth (collected when you create an account).

  • Health & Eligibility Data: Information regarding your potential eligibility for clinical trials (we collect this data to fix the AI and automatically delete chat logs after 30 days) or medical conditions that you choose to save to your profile .

  • Location Data: Postcode (optional), which allows us to analyse demand for trials in specific geographic regions.

B. Information Collected Automatically (Linked via Device IDs) To ensure the App works correctly, we collect technical data that may be linked to your device’s unique identifier:

  • Usage Data: Which pages you view, buttons you click, and how long you spend on specific features.

  • Technical Data: Internet Protocol (IP) address, device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (Instance IDs).

  • Crash Reports: Diagnostic logs generated if the App crashes, used to identify and fix software bugs.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following specific purposes:

  • App Functionality: To allow you to log in, save trials to your profile, and receive relevant eligibility information.

  • Analytics: To understand how users interact with the App and to identify trends in health technology interests (e.g., "How many users in London are searching for Alzheimer's trials?").

  • Communication: To send you updates about new trials, app features, or changes to our policies.

Important: We do NOT use your data for third-party advertising tracking. We do NOT sell your personal data to data brokers.

4. Third-Party Services & Data Processors

We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate the App securely. These providers act as data processors and are contractually bound to protect your data:

  • Google Firebase & Google Analytics: Used for secure authentication (logins), app analytics, and crash reporting.

  • ClinicalTrials.gov: We source public trial data from this registry.

  • Cloud Hosting Providers: Your data is stored securely on compliant cloud servers (e.g., Google Cloud) which adhere to industry best practices for security.

5. AI & Content Accuracy

  • Artificial Intelligence: We use AI technologies to simplify complex clinical text. While all prompts and outputs are overseen by a medical professional, AI can occasionally produce errors. Always verify trial details with the official trial site.

  • Information Changes: Healthcare is a fast-moving field. While we aim for accuracy, details regarding clinical trials may change before we can update them. We cannot guarantee that all content is 100% up-to-date at all times.

  • Third-Party Content: We display content sourced from public registries and scientific journals (e.g., BMJ). We do not claim ownership of third-party trademarks or original clinical protocols.

6. Your Rights & Account Deletion

Depending on your location (including the UK and EEA), you have specific rights regarding your data:

  • Delete Your Account: You can request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. You can do this directly within the App’s settings menu or by emailing us at contact@wetakepart.io.

  • Access Your Data: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you (Subject Access Request).

  • Notifications: You can opt-out of push notifications via your device or app settings at any time.

7. Data Security

We take the security of your personal data very seriously. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
